Proa builders take on Race to Alaska

posted Apr 6, 2015, 12:02 PM by PacificNorthWest MultihullAssoc

Joe Bersch and Dalton Bergan will talk about their project to build a proa and then race it in the Race to Alaska this June.  The Race to Alaska (http://r2ak.com/) is an “anything goes” race from Port Townsend to Alaska where the only rules are:  (1) No motors allowed and (2) Stay east of Vancouver Island.  Their proa is designed by Paul Bieker (who might be at the meeting) with Russell Brown doing much of the construction.

Joe and Dalton are very accomplished sailboat racers on many kinds of boats (including Moths) but have limited multihull experience and no experience whatsoever on proas.  Along with giving us their presentation they are looking for input and advice from us more experienced multihullers. Should be a very interesting meeting!
