FLOAT PLANE  PROJECT

Here's our "Catamaran" project. While we remain active club members, my wife has indulged me on our 2 previous boats, a one off 27' tri BIRD OF PREY (Formerly 'Frog Force' from San Fran) and our 36' Newick FLYER. We have enjoyed wonderful times on these boats and are grateful to fellow members who take us with them, still! I need my sailing and racing fix after all.

But the lady has been patient and flying has always been a dream of hers and I enjoy it as well. So resources and all previous skills learned, in Coast Guard and loitering around this bunch of free thinkers, are being applied to this Aero Comp 6 Composite airplane. Fuselage front view

It's rather nice to have pieces to put together like a plastic model we used to build as kids. It's also VERY nice to have a proven, safe and utilitarian design. It uses Vinyl Esther on the Joints but most the methods are the same as you Epoxy builders. As I discover relevant info or tips that may be of use to boat builders I'll pass them on, especially favorite tools, (one of our meeting themes recently) as I find what is of most use. The Rotozip is looking quite nice, so far!

We should title our building log "Airship in a Bottle" as you'll see from the cramped space of an 11 x 24' (by temporary extension) single car garage.  The fuselage is on a rolling frame and I am about to make a cart for the wings. You see I have to roll one out of the way (Displacing my car) sometimes while working on the other. The large wing table (bought from a local EAA#26 member) and the float kit are stored in the driveway, displacing my wife's car. She really wants this plane I guess! Slightly cramped working space!

So here you go! Best luck on all your projects! Thanks NWMA for the support and info I have learned over the years. All of it will be used!
