Hogshead 30th Regatta, Sucia Island, July 29th & 30thBy Ann Erickson Great weather, 12 boats... Perfect weather, except that there was no wind for the famous Hogshead Race. Lots of current and no wind, no one finished: Ah well, the barbecued pig was great and we spent our evenings sitting around the campfire gabbing. Everyone got some sort of door prize thing and a quasi "race packet" and we all had fun. In attendance were Kim and Linda Alfred on Cheekee Monkee, F-31; Carl Uthoff on Tardis, a custom cat; Ron & Mara Tomas and their brand new one-month-old baby and Bob Davis were on Wingspan, Buccaneer 33. Both Wingspan and Tardis are from the British Columbia Multihull Club. The winner of the 'traveled furthest" prize went to Fred Jones and his wife on Strider, F-27. They were sailing in the great northwest this summer and saw the rendezvous announcement on the web site and added it to their itinerary. We also had Harry and Mary Abbott on Te Lapa, F9A; George and Loretta Lefler on Stardancer, Gemini 105; Claude Jenkins and his granddaughter Emily on Capria, F-27; David and Julia Miller on 3D, F-31; Larry Falter, his daughter and his mom, Mary, on Frolic, Cross 46; Linda and Marytn Adams on Cuttlefish, F-27; Wayne and Ann Erickson on Almond Joy, F-27; and Scott McCulley and friend on Tigger, a Farrier Tramp. It was a great bunch! |
