elections in December: rear commodore, publicity editor, race fleet
captain.

Monkey.
- Shaw Island race had no finishers: Krystal Ki DNF and Cuttlefish

and 3rd by Scott on Tigger
- Cadillac Van Isle first place by Red Shift, then Bad Kitty and 3rd Pat
on Dragonfly who also was elapsed time winner
- Swift Sure American Team Multihulls won Canadian Coast Guard Award.
- Due to the difficulty in separating fact from fiction, no additional
documentation was made of the summer sailing tales !
- At the club meeting in June ideas were generated to answer the
question: How should the club spend its accumulated funds? Two ideas
were
1.building a boat as a club project, possibly through the Center
for Wooden Boats,
2. club purchase of safety equipment which then be loaned to club
members.
After further discussion, the boat building is abandoned due to the club
not having adequate funds to complete a boat and it was estimated by
those who have build boats, the hours required are beyond what club
members would be willing to contribute. The second idea of a safety kit
was discussed. It was suggested it contain an EPIRB at the estimated
cost of $550 for a non GPS unit, replacement battery at $100. There was
a suggestion this be registered to the boat owner by Faxing NOA and a
float plan left with the club. Survival suits were suggested. David said
he would write up some ideas and the costs.
- Neil invited club members to go with him to the next PIYA meeting. He
gathered ideas for NWMA position on safety requirements for racers.
Rules for a crash box or access to emergency equipment were discussed.
It was cautioned any rules would reach far beyond our club. Other groups
like B.C. Multihulls should be considered.
- Greg announced he is lining up speaker for the upcoming meetings.
Dates are not certain but possible speakers are Ron Gill and Michael
Shot
- The creation of a visitor’s package was discussed. It could contain
roster, club history, dimension and purpose of club, schedule of what we
do. Visitors present said they felt they had enough info. Neil has extra
newsletters available and lots of info available on the club’s web
page.
- Next board meeting is open to all members. It will be held at Neil
Bryant’s, date to be announced.
- Mark Olsoe said he had interest in the 4th of July’s Quick and Dirty
Contest and would put together an idea for a design.
- Membership: David reports he will soon have window stickers, laminated
cards that list businesses that offer discounts to members.
- Linda Adams volunteered to publish the roster in booklet form. It was
suggested it be ready for the Christmas Meeting. November meeting was
set as the deadline for membership to be included in the fall edition of
the membership directory.
- Treasurer reported about 4K in checking with obligations of about 1K
for rent and newsletter. There is about 2.2K in savings.
- Mark reported the library has new magazines and the catalog of library
books in listed on the website.
- If you are interested in Press Passes to Boat Shows contact Neil
Bryant.
- General agreement of those present that the club’s meeting room
needs pictures of multihulls. The front of the library case was
suggested as a display area.
- Web curator Patrick Dayshaw announced the library on the web is
searchable. Member’s gallery is half full and invites members to send
him pictures and he will even create a page for each member fill with
his information. Patrick announced the end of his term as web curator.
Patrick has used the most common tools, such as FrontPage, to create the
website. He believes this will ease the transition to the new curator.
Patrick was given a round of applause for the excellent web page and its
maintenance.
- Neil announced that the newsletter was accepting summer stories for
its next edition and made his usual threats.
Respectfully submitted, Linda Adams
