Overnighting and Launching

Participants are responsible for any fees associated with moorage, lodging, camping and launching during the event. See http://www.portofpt.com/point_hudson.htm for an overview of local facilities.

For moorage at Point Hudson during the regatta (arriving Friday, May 17th, departing Sunday May 19th), please contact Steve Shively at the North West Maritime Center (NWMC) at (360) 385-3628 ext. 130, OR call John Hulburd at (360) 643-1593. 20 slip spaces are reserved in the Point Hudson marina for the regatta. If you check in with the staff at the Point Hudson marina when you arrive, they will show you what spaces can be used, although we need to work together to make the best use of those spaces. It would be very helpful for boats to retract or fold up their bowsprits, and for some trimarans (those with non-rotating masts in particular) to fold one or both amas in order to fit in. Others will need to raft up along side other multihulls along the Linear dock if it gets really full.

Anchoring out: If the weather is westerly, some folks may try anchoring out along the city waterfront. Please be advised that if the wind shifts to the south or east, the city waterfront becomes a lee shore with enough fetch to make heavy chop. The bottom is good holding beyond the buoy line but you will be uncomfortable (unless your boat is over 50 feet!) at best.

Launching: Beachable multihulls can be launched at the Madison Street ramp next to the NWMC and pulled up on the sand in front of and to the NE of the Center. Trailers and tow vehicles should park in the big lot behind the Sea Marine boatyard, down Jackson Street and to the right.

Larger boats (trailerable trimarans) can be launched at the Boat Haven (across from McDonald's as you drive into town) or at Fort Worden. Do NOT trust the State Park moorings at Fort Worden for overnight moorage.

RV Camping is available onsite. We have reserved 5 full hook up camping spots (2 are 25' or less) and 2 "dry" spots (no hook ups). Please contact John Hulburd at (360) 643-1593 well in advance (minimum 30 days before) if you need one of the reserved spaces.

There may be tent camping allowed at Point Hudson; call Point Hudson Marina to find out, but there is tent camping across town (1/2 mile) at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds: (360) 385-9129, or at Fort Worden.

Those who need to stay after Sunday the 19th (staging for the Swiftsure race) need to make separate arrangements with staff at Point Hudson Marina: (360) 385-2828.
